It is a romantic tale between Caity and Tom. It is mostly set in a small town in Australia. The book has Australian spelling, punctuation, and idioms throughout, which led it an authentic flavor and make for a good read. The plot follows what happens when Caity moves to the small town of Willow and meets Tom.I read occasional romance novels, and this is one of the better ones. It has some fine literary qualities and I was reminded of books like "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier as both books delve into the psychological and emotional elements of the characters.Positives:Well developed characters with solid backstories.Effective dialogue.Solid plot with some twists and turns.Good emotional engagement with me, the reader.Negatives:The children were interesting as secondary characters, and I would have liked to read more about them and their ongoing interactions with Cait, their dad, and their estranged mom. Unfortunately, those angles were not as well developed as the main story line.A very minor point, but I got a bit mixed up when a pet and a character had the same name. That was quickly corrected, so no worries.Otherwise a well written and fun story. My grade a solid A novel.

Geek to Farm Girl Freak A Chance to Come True by S M Spencer is wonderfully sweet romance novella that takes the reader into small-town Australia where second chances at love are possible.Caity Jones left a dead-end relationship and a job she detested to move to a small parcel of land in the rural town of Willows - along with her prized horse. Tom Murray is the feed store owner that she buys livestock feed from and a man Caity would like to know better. But Tom, Caity discover, has had his share of heart-ache in the relationship department as well. Caity has never been married, but would love to be one day. Tom's wife left him and their children to reunite with her high school sweetheart, leaving Tom and the children devastated. Caity likes Tom and his children, but is concerned that his heart in now unavailable. Tom likes Caity, but does not want to get hurt again. Can these two friends become more than just acquaintances and let a second chance at love sweep them each off of their feet? No spoilers here - you have to read the book to find out.I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance story of two damaged souls looking for a better life and finding one another along the way. I would recommend it to those who like clean romance stories that have happy endings.

Not What I Call "Clean and Wholesome" By Voracious Reader After her long-term boyfriend refuses to commit or start a family and breaks up with her, Caity Jones decides to move to the smaller town of Willows and away from the boyfriend who works in same the office she’s begun to hate. By moving she can also have a small place where she can have her horse with her and maybe begin the writing career that she’s always dreamed of. She meets Tom Murray, a divorcee with three children when she goes to the local feed store. She has sworn off men, but she’s never met one that she’s so attracted to.I felt Caity physically fantasized about Tom way too much, and some of her long-distance conversations with her best-friend Sarah were boring. There were a few grammatical errors, like “We’ll do it quick” (from an educated doctor) and “between Tom and I.” I bought the book, because the tag at the bottom of the amazon page said “clean and wholesome.” I know people’s definition of this differs, but it did not fit this category in my opinion. There were about twenty-some curse words, enough to be noticeable. Caity had sex on a first date and he spent the night with her several times thereafter. The book seemed to assume that dating meant sleeping together, although nothing is described. There were also some phrases that were a turn-off for me. Here are some examples: “she’d like to jump his bones,” “Suck it and see,” “Hay, yes…good for horses… and rolling around in too,” and “the universe was testing her resolve.” The main characters also drank way too much, especially Caity, who got drunk enough she couldn’t drive and lost all inhibitions.Despite the problems, I found the developing relationship interesting and the characters likable. However, they were often so awkward around each other, had so many misunderstandings, and kept second guessing each other that even I became uncomfortable at times. It may have been a bit better than three stars, but I couldn’t see giving it four, considering how much I found wrong.

Best Ebook The Fox and the Star, by Coralie Bickford-Smith

From the award-winning designer of the iconic Penguin Hardcover Classics comes a beautifully illustrated fable about loss, friendship, and courage The Fox and the Star is the story of a friendship between a lonely Fox and the Star who guides him through the frightfully dark forest. Illuminated by Star’s rays, Fox forages for food, runs with the rabbits, and dances in the rain—until Star suddenly goes out and life changes, leaving Fox huddling for warmth in the unfamiliar dark. To find his missing Star, Fox must embark on a wondrous journey beyond the world he knows—a journey lit by courage, newfound friends, and just maybe, a star-filled new sky. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and the art of William Blake, The Fox and the Star is a heartwarming, hopeful tale which comes alive through Bickford-Smith’s beloved illustrations, guiding readers both young and grown to “look up beyond your ears.”

The Fox and the Star, by Coralie Bickford-Smith

Review “Brilliant . . . a delight."-Philip Pullman"What keeps the pages turning is the remarkable illustrations, which shift from spread to spread... It’s a spectacular show of friendship’s power to change and fill lives.”-The Boston Globe“A beautiful piece of design coupled with thoughtful prose…[a] masterpiece.” –Newsweek   “The most physically beautiful book I had the pleasure of holding in my hands in 2015…Really, The Fox and the Star is an art book, a chance for the abundantly talented Bickford-Smith—best-known for designing the crave-worthy Penguin hardcover classics—to create an entire book from scratch. The simple story of a young fox who loses his best friend only to discover a whole new world makes a sweet premise, but the main attraction is Bickford-Smith’s masterful exercise of the book designer’s craft.”—Laura Miller, Slate “A delightful surprise for fairy tale lovers of all ages.”—Parade   “Book designer Coralie Bickford-Smith has created a volume that's as close to a work of art as anything mass-produced can be…It's a quiet allegory made perfect by exquisite, pattern-based illustrations printed on heavy paper. While older children will be mesmerized, The Fox and the Star is for readers of any age who appreciate sophisticated visuals. Grade: A+”—Cleveland Plain Dealer   “One of the most beautiful kids books in recent memory.”—St. Louis Post-Dispatch “An unusual, pleasantly old-fashioned… gorgeous production value and moving illustrations.”—Booklist Praise for Coralie Bickford-Smith:“Coralie Bickford-Smith is the queen of beautiful book covers,” -Grace Bonney, Design Sponge “Penguin’s brightest star is not an author but an illustrator called Coralie Bickford-Smith.” –AbeBooks “Penguin Design geeks and bookworms alike have fallen in love with Bickford-Smith's beautiful — and thoughtful — work.” –Fast Company“Coralie Bickford-Smith is easily our favorite book cover designer.” –Brain Pickings“London-based Coralie Bickford-Smith is the darling of the book design world.” –Bon Appetit

It is perfect for my kids, ages 6 and 2. It is simple enough for my 6 year old to read with me, and illustrated beautifully which keeps everyone's attention. The story is sweet and magical. It is illustrated in an ink print/wood block fashion and is highly graphical. I just love it and would buy more like it if I could. It's great for an art lover like me to read to her kids. I also LOVE the binding. It is embossed beautifully and seems like it will last a long time. It didn't even come with a cover which I think is great because I always throw those out anyway (as the kids destroy it) and underneath the cover, the book is always so plain and nondescript. Books don't need covers! This one is special inside and out. The execution and design of this book is excellent and I look forward to purchasing more like it to read with my children. This is a fine example of what every childrens book should strive to be like.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. art, literature and design By Kevin Holtsberry A simple, yet endearing, story blended with gorgeous art and design? Yes, please! It touches all of the senses. It has texture and depth and lyricism that engages your hands, eyes and ears. It is a book you can enjoy all by yourself; just getting lost in the illustrations. But is is also a book you will want to read out loud (to children and adults) sharing the art as you share the story. So what can I say? If you love the blending of art, literature and design you will want to have The Fax and the Star on your shelf.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Stunning illustrations and memorable story! LOVED this one! By Anne When the book arrived in my mailbox, I held it in awe. The cover is perfect. I love the navy blue background and the cute little fox at the bottom, it just begs to be read and a fine showcase on your bookshelf! The story is worthy of the cover too. It’s about a sweet little fox that loves his star. The star lights the fox’s way until one day the star is gone and the poor little fox is scared and doesn’t know what to do.At first the fox hides from the dark and is scared, but eventually he decides he can’t hide forever and he goes looking for his star. What he finds isn’t just his start, but millions of other stars as well. He learns to never give up.It was a heart warming little story that would be perfect for a nighttime reading with your little ones. It’s a classic story that children and adults will enjoy. But what really makes this book is the illustrations! The illustrations are so marvelous! I love the navy and orange as the primary colors. They work so well together and are classic and timeless. The cute little forrest scenes, the trees, the animals…..all so cute and each page is different, and you have to ‘follow’ the words on some pages. The illustrations and the word following make it engaging for reader and child…..on some pages I had to hunt for the fox, I could just see the parent asking their child, ‘where is the fox?’ while they are reading. In my mind this is a book that begs for parent/child reading time.Sure older kids could read this book all on their own but it’s the kind of book that I see a parent and child reading together as a bedtime story…..just my vision. The quality of the book and the pages are wonderful. The pages are thick and the illustrations vibrant, it gives the feeling of a special, luxurious book.I can’t say enough good things about the story, illustrations, and the book itself. It was a real treat to read. I am going to keep this one on a little shelf of honor until I do have a baby one day…..and I plan on going with a woodland nursery some day so this book would fit right in with my decor! This would make a fun holiday gift for younger kids or new parents to be or even big kids like me that just love beautiful books and illustrations! This is the kind of book that you want to actually buy a physical copy of…sure ebooks are always nice and convenient but books like this can’t be done justice on a computer screen. You need to feel them in you hands to fully appreciate both their story and their illustrations. Do you self (or your loved one) a favor and buy them the hard copy!I am so glad I got to read this one, it was a lovely story and all around treat for me!

By Ian Acheson Our gang are given the opportunity to be in the live audience for the premiere of a rather dubiously named reality TV show which uses a particularly clever frequency to manipulate people's response to certain stimulation. It's soon discovered that this device has been used in a real life situation recently and lo and behold the gang inadvertently set it off again. We see a clever connection between Brenda's drawing and Daniel's intuition surrounding the Leviathan.Once again tremendously readable. Perhaps this episode lacked the same suspense and mystery the recent ones have but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to Angela Hunt's next edition.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. another great read! By Neat As with the entire series I couldn't put this installment down. Then I finished it way too soon and am left with nothing to read. Perhaps these great authors would either write longer stuff or write faster. I've read each author separately and enjoyed each book but combined they are really terrific!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I can't decide! By Donna Amaral Not about the series. I am liking it all. What I'm not decided about is which character, and in that, which author, is my favorite. So, I choose not to choose. I will just keep reading them and enjoying them all.

She not only engaged me into the story but did it without too much input on characters. I never like stories if I don't relate to a character, but with this book you will be immersed in the world the author created and I have to say it was amazing.

About the Author Dana Stabenow was born in Anchorage and raised on 75-foot fish tender in the Gulf of Alaska. She knew there was a warmer, drier job out there somewhere and after having a grand old time working in the Prudhoe Bay oilfields on the North Slope of Alaska, making an obscene amount of money and going to Hawaii a lot, found it in writing. Her first crime fiction novel, A Cold Day for Murder, won an Edgar award, her first thriller, Blindfold Game, hit the New York Times bestseller list, and her twenty-ninth novel and twentieth entry in the Kate Shugak series, Bad Blood, was released in February 2013. By Caroline Leone BookServices I read mystery, fantasy, and historical fiction; generally I don't like the writing of an author that crosses from one genre to another but Stabenow did nail this. Story line is complex enough to be interesting but does not get so complicated that one needs to keep a list of characters handy in order to follow the story. the author takes some liberties with the history but not to the point that the reader is asked to completely suspend his sense of time.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great read by a great author. By Anne Sims Dana Stabenow is a great author. I have read all of her Kate Shugak novels and also book 1 & 2 of the Silk and Song series. They are all very, very good. Their is suspense, romance and the pace moves right along.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Another Winner! By Amazon Customer Love Dana Stabenow's other series. This one does not disappoint. Her characters are well done, the plot line is comprehensive and logical, dialogue is realistic and lightly done. The story is captivating and plausible. Dana has done her homework on various cultures and presents them in their negative and positive aspects quite well. This particular book covers the arrival in England and ultimate resolution to the group's search. Dana doesn't just regurgitate facts and historic events as written by the winner, she makes the effort to humanize those events and persons we often see as the losers in history.
