By Bike Book Reviews I knew Zack's story was gonna be great, and boy was it, it surpassed my very high expectations and then some. Jaclyn has another winner on her hands for sure!!Zack sees his brother so happy with the love of his life, and Zack wants that more than anything, but that would mean admitting a truth that he doesn't even like to admit to himself. When he meets Jackson, the chemistry is off the charts and Zack wants him so much, but he is so afraid of being who he really is, will Jackson wait for the fear to recede, if it ever does?Jackson knows Zack is the other half of his heart and the one for him, but Zack keeps wanting to hide who he really is, and that means hiding Jackson. Can Jackson handle being a secret?When Jackson gets tired of being in Zacks's closet he leaves, and both men miss each other, but does Jackson mean enough to Zack for him to stop living for everyone else and start living life the way he wants, with who he wants?You will love this book, you will be rooting for Zack to wake up and give love a chance!! Zack's Awakening By Leda "Sometimes it takes people longer to find themselves."Zack's awakening was not quite as angsty as Michael's but this book was just as good.Zack was so conflicted about being gay and his feelings for Jackson. His fear over his father and people in the town knowing he was gay was heartbreaking. My heart broke many times for Jackson. I knew his feelings for Zack were solid. But to endure some of the things he had to for as long as he did, was just sad. Finally having enough, knowing he deserves better, Jackson walks away brokenhearted.Jackson was just a wonderful character. So loving and patient. I loved how comfortable he was, and his need to be the best person he could be.Disowned by his parents after finding out he was gay, all he has are his two best friends. He put his heart and soul into his relationship with Zack, which started out as a friendship that formed after Zack became his personal trainer.My feelings went back and forth for Zack. I felt bad for him. Having a hard time not only accepting who you are but loving yourself, makes it impossible to be in any sort of a healthy relationship with anyone. After losing Jackson and having a horrible fight with his brother Gabriel, he finally comes out to his father. It is then, with that horrible weight off his shoulders, he can begin to put himself back together and become the person he wants to be. Giving Jackson some space, he begins to do just that. But will Jackson ever give him another chance to prove himself?I loved Jackson and Zack. They really were great together.I think my favorite part of the book though was seeing Michael and Gabriel doing so well. And the wedding...perfect!I love Jaclyn Osborn's writing. I've read 3 books from her and all 3 were 5 star reads for me.

He was a jock back in high school and the typical ladies man. Zach is now working in a gym as a physical trainer. He has hidden his sexuality for years basically ignoring his feelings because being gay isn't an option. Zach keeps going back to all of the questions he needs answers to, but too scared to act on them to find out what they are. Like what would people think? How would his friends act? Who would want a gay guy to be their physical trainer? Zach has been able to keep up this facade for years. That is until Jackson shows up at the gym as his new client. Seeing him brings all these unwanted feelings back full force.Jackson had went to high school with Zach but abruptly left when his parents threw him out for being gay. He has since finished college and has his life on track. When he ends up running into Zach again his attraction to him instantly returns. As they spend time together training, they become friends which eventually leads to more.My heart broke for Jax throughout this book. He is openly gay and proud of who he is. Where Zach is hidden so deep in the closet he may never make it out. He is so scared that whenever they are in public he pushes Jax away for the fear of someone realizing he is actually gay. Zach's actions end up making Jax his dirty little secret. Leaving Jax hurt, disappointed and mad.How much will Jax take before he has had enough? Will Zach finally come to terms with his sexuality and realize all that matters is the love he feels for Jax or will he let Jax walk away for good?Zach's Awakening is such a great book. Seeing how much one person struggles with what other people think was sad to witness. I wanted to slap Zach so many times but at the same time I felt bad for him and wanted to give him a hug. Seeing Zach finally accept himself and choose love over everyone else was beautiful to watch. I also loved getting glimpses of Michael and Gabriel throughout the book.Jaclyn Osborn is a fantastic writer. Her ability to get you to connect with the characters is amazing. You can't help but feel the sorrow, happiness, love and every other emotion these characters go through. I can't wait to see what journey she takes us on in the future.If you haven't read Michael's Awakening by Jaclyn Osborn yet then I highly recommend starting with it to fully understand the characters and their background. If you have already read it then you don't want to miss out on Zach and Jax's amazing journey to happiness.A complimentary copy was given by the author in exchange for an honest review.

By Joe Kitano One of those books that is very difficult to put down after you've started, The Girl with Ghost Eyes is an absolutely thrilling joyride through the streets of San Francisco's Chinatown in the late 1800's. The story centers on a young Daoist priestess/widow named Li-Lin, who's navigating her way through not only life after her husband's death, but also the spirit and ghoul infested streets of Chinatown. After being betrayed by someone close to her, she embarks on a quest for revenge and redemption. Along the way, she is assisted by a cadre of fantastic creatures, too awesome to spoil in this review. All this culminates into an epic final battle in the heart of Chinatown with an ancient evil that leaps right off the pages.A culturally sensitive portrayal of the times, this book deftly captures the hardships and stigma of being a widow in the late 1800's. Li-Lin's relationship with her father, and her unending struggle to win his approval, adds a deep layer of humanity to the story. Li-Lin is an underdog, and all the way up to the thrilling end, I could not help but cheer for her as she goes from being an afterthought in society, to a warrior respected by the living and the dead. The book is not only a journey into the otherworldly, but also an emotional journey that mirrors life, with lots of ups and downs, failures and successes.And have I mentioned the creatures?! Wow. As I was reading, I could vividly picture their odd and grotesque features as they parade gleefully down the street. You not only have the grim and the macabre, but also the colorful and the offbeat. They reminded me of great films such as Spirited Away and 1980's Hong Kong spirit magic films. They are unlike anything you've ever read about.As a Chinese-American, I appreciate the author's genuine effort in depicting the characters as flesh and blood, with real emotions and struggles, and not the caricatures you usually see with Asian characters. Li-Lin is not the typical sexpot with a sword dressed in a skimpy outfit; she is a true woman warrior to be revered. Also, many of the religious and folk terms used in the book are the genuine article. I could tell much research was done, with a great emphasis on their authenticity. I believe that once you get into the story, any perceived cultural barriers will dissolve and you'll root for Li-Lin like you would your own sister. I had a great time reading this book, and I'm eagerly looking forward to further tales of Li-Lin's journey. Highly recommended. Definitely worth revisiting.

When do we hear more about Li-lin, her arrogant father, her adorable eyeball companion, and her ghost-infested world? When can I read more about her bravery, her cleverness, and her brilliance? Daoists sword fighting in late 1800s San Francisco Chinatown...all meticulously and respectfully researched, and amazingly and insightfully written. This needs to be an ongoing series ASAP!BUY THIS BOOK. I don't care what else you thought you were going to buy today--I don't care if it's for you, or a friend, or some acquaintance who never even reads--BUY IT. You'll thank me.

She has some tough decisions to make. Her aunt steps in to help, but the question is whether or not she is truly there to help or there for something else. This is a must read and I can't wait to get part 3 to see where it takes me. VIP book reviewer.

By redhvn even tho i have enjoyed the story line, this one (spoiler) only furthers their relationship...to really find out what happens, u need book 3 which is the more expensive @ 3.99.i felt coerced into buying 2 & 3 in order to read the complete story that should have sold all together - @ a bare minimum 1 & 2 together since 2 is basically a filler book. when authors do this i feel ripped off no matter how good the story line is. bria writes a fairly good story, it has good elements, her characters are really likable & fun - some that could be followed out more, but i keep coming back to the fact that she splits the story into 3 parts & u have to pay increasing prices for the 2nd & 3rd parts. i have waited a couple days to buy the 3rd part & to even write this review to see if it still bugged me as much - it does!! will not be buying any more of her books that do this. or any other author that does it either.

Yandy really works my nerves with her trifling sneaky ways & she truly deserves what's coming to her for setting up her own niece; I hope Lyric it makes it out of her current state, so she & Bryce can be on good terms again & try to rekindle whatever feelings they still have in their relationship. I am happy that Domimic & Destiny are focusing on their baby that will be arriving soon & I just hope that these two stay ok on this book, cause I really like them as well as Lyric & Bryce...Need part 3 ASAP.'

That Yandy is something else though...she really is all for herself. I mean with an aunt like that who needs enemies! I'm hoping that Lyric and Brick will finally find some type of peace and happiness in pt 3!

If you've read 1-3 then you probably will want to buy these to continue the adventure with Whyborne and Griffin. I think its worth buying the set since you save a little bit of money (I think) and you'll want to read all of the books. I enjoyed taking my Egyptology course in undergrad and so Necropolis was particularly interesting for me although I enjoy all of the archeological aspects of the books. I would love to read more about these characters but in the interim have just purchased the first set of SPECTR novels by Ms. Hawk which I anticipate being just as enjoyable.

By Tigerlilly Each book is different from the last with new adventures as Whyborne learns his place and his powers. I do enjoy the solid and strong relationship that he and Griffin enjoy, as Griffin also evolves. Also appreciate the change in viewpoints so pronounced in Hoarfrost. And let's not forget the explicit and fun sex scenes..great series!

I read all night ( I am retired ) to finish one book and then start another story. I know when it is time to give up the second time I drop my reader in my face. E readers are great you don't have to reread the book when you drop it, they keep your place.

What made this book so special to me was the hero, Caleb. 18 months ago, Calebs wife of 2 months walked away from their marriage without even saying goodbye. What does Caleb do? He spends those 18 months searching for his wife and during that time he stays completely faithful to her, even though he has no idea why she left. When he finally finds his wife, Snow, he does everything he can to win her back. He fights for his wife and convinces her to give their marriage a chance. Caleb was willing to do whatever he had to do to prove to Snow that their marriage was worth saving. Caleb made this book a 5 star read and was the ultimate book boyfriend! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a totally swoon-worthy hero that you just can't help but fall in love with!

The author's writing style made this one too painful to finish. It felt like trying to make out details in a photo that is completely out of focus. The writing came across monotonic and stilted. I think it is mainly due to the lack of personal pronouns. Caleb...Snow...Caleb....Snow... had my eyes twitching from seeing those two little words overused. I can honestly say the expression "You don't miss something until it's gone" applies here. I feel like I owe pronouns an apology for taking them for granted. Here's to hoping my NetGalley ARC was still due to be edited before final publication. I'm going to give the author the benefit of the doubt and assume that's the case here.I also need to have a believable plot. I totally get it when a heroine disappears from an abusive husband and has to go into hiding. Can't even stick her head out of her hiding place long enough to file for divorce. Goodness, for the most part, I get why Snow left. She thought their worlds were too different. Though she should have confronted Caleb and let him know what she overheard before doing so. Then there is Snow leaving her mom a note but not her husband of two months, when they were both physically in the same house. Uh, no, don't buy into that at all... Running from someone she had no reason to fear, zero contact for almost two years, and not even communicating directly with her own family, except trusting her evil monster-in-law mother to relay messages to them. Talk about misguided trust. Make that a triple..no, no, and no. She wasn't mad at her parents, so why exactly was she punishing them by avoiding them? Right answer: There isn't one.Now the biggest issue. Just how long did she expect to keep this guy legally tied to her when she obviously didn't want to be married to him anymore? She didn't have the decency to file for divorce so he could move on. Instead, he had the papers drawn up just to shut up his mother about it. Btw, what she overheard was nothing about another woman. He wasn't a cheater. In fact, like her, he stayed celibate the whole time they were apart. Zero interest in other women. Rich, handsome, loyal, and head over heels in love with her…What a loser, huh.So, my fellow romance book-loving friends, this all occurred about 20% into it. Yes, I put it down. Yes, I'm feeling a little guilty. It isn't in my nature not to finish a book. I'm actually going to walk away and am considering trying a re-read. Just to make certain I'm not the issue. I would love to prove myself wrong about this one.P.S. The refreshingly romantic book cover reeled me in. Thank you for that, Ms. Osburn. By Dave Parker When Snow Cameron and Caleb McGraw first met in Nashville, they fell immediately in lust – accompanied by a strong personal attraction. After a quickie wedding in Las Vegas, they headed to Baton Rouge and Caleb’s family home. Caleb’s mother Vivien set out to destroy Snow and their marriage – angry that her trophy son married the “wrong type of woman.” –. Two months into this adversarial environment, Snow split. She had run away in the middle of the night without a goodbye or leaving any information where she was going.The story opens 18 months later with Caleb walking into Snow’s Curiosity Shop in Ardent Springs insisting they are still married. Snow had anticipated he would be angry and want a divorce. Caleb wants to resume their marriage, including returning to his family home in Baton Rouge. Snow refuses. She won’t tell him why – after all, the reason is his very antagonistic mother – and Snow refuses to come between them. But Caleb is persistent. He stays in Ardent Springs, insisting that they belong together.I love this story. It is the flip side of the “poor little rich girl” theme, done with class. This couple’s emotional tension feels real, filled with secrets and stress. Well established secondary characters flesh out the story and this small town. I recommend it highly for those looking for an afternoon of romance.
