Abe Lincoln Country Louisville, Kentucky 1859 Wade Taylor is the perfect blend of American renegade-pioneer and English aristocracy. He stands for God, the Bible, freedom, and guns. If anyone can bring Owens to justice, he can! The problem is, Miss Jenna is bait and doesn't even realize it. It's going to take round the clock coverage to protect her. Twelve schools in Jefferson County under his jurisdiction, but the school house in rural county district four... Owens is fixated on. Vivacious and beautiful, Jenna is the product of her southern belle mother and abolitionist father. She's also the new teacher in district four. How on earth is he going to keep her out of trouble and bring Owens to justice? The tension is building in beautiful, rolling Kentucky in this Civil War Era love story! Kentucky author, Lisa M. Prysock, manages to keep readers on the edge of their seats with many twists and turns in this heartwarming, Christian, faith-inspired, historical romance. 'The Lydia Collection' is a series of unrelated, Christ-centered, historical romance books that can be read in any order. The first story in the collection is "The Redemption of Lady Georgiana," a Regency time-period romance, loosely adapted from one of the greatest Bible love stories of all time, The Book of Ruth. Lisa is the author of two faith-inspired, Regency, romance books and two faith-inspired, Victorian, romance books: "To Find a Duchess," "The Redemption of Lady Georgiana," "Hannah's Garden: a Turn of the Century Love Story," Volume 1, and "Abigail's Melody," Volume 2 of 'The Victorian Christian Heritage Series.' 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. historical with a lot of Kentucky heritage By R. H. Protecting Miss Jenna is Book 2 of the Lydia Collection written by Lisa Prysock. I have not read any other books by Ms. Prysock, but felt that this book was easily read as a standalone as it states at the beginning of the book.I liked how the author wrote the character, Wade. He was on the board of the local school administration and interviewed Jenna for the position at the local school. This book was written at a time when there was great hatred in the Kentucky area for black people and especially the educating of black people. Wade and the other on the school board offered Jenna the job as teacher, but never really told her all of the situations that resulted in the need of a new school teacher at this specific school. Due to this information being withheld, Jenna is in grave danger and Wade realizes it and takes up the responsibility of keeping watch over Jenna…hence Protecting Jenna, the title of the book! I won’t spoil the story with any more details, but recommend you read this story! There is a great deal of Kentucky history and heritage placed within this book. It is easy to see the love that this author has for her state. She took great pride in not just writing a very interesting fictional story, but also by adding such historical aspects and tidbits that relate to the characters of her story.I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Liked it, certainly didn't love it. By Amazon Customer I like much about it. The author set the story in her home state so it was more authentic and accurate than the first book in this "series".I don't understand books being in a "series" when there is no connection whatsoever in characters, setting, time frame, etc. She does go on a bit long, drifting off, it seems. In the middle of a situation or conversation, this was sometimes hard to stay in the story. I don't like the footnotes being within the body of the dialogue or action of the story. I would prefer historical references and pictures to be in the beginning or end of the book.Editing should be tighter; admiral and wined where admirable and whinny would be appropriate, for instance. I did enjoy the references to Galt House and other places in Louisville. I debated between three and four stars, but settled on four as there was much about the book I did like and don't want to turn readers away from a book they might really enjoy. Maybe it was just me, but usually I make a note of a place I want to Google and do it after I finish a book because I'm engrossed in the story. I did my roaming back and forth when I was reading this one.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Incorrect punctuation By Amazon Customer. Mae Copper There were too many incorrectly placed commas, and the word "husbandry" was used inappropriately. The storyline was enjoyable; however, it appears no one edited it very closely.
