Candelaria Siobhan Masuko Bagani is Poseidon Station's youngest crew member - and eleventh-generation master gardener. Her job will be to carefully hand propagate the seeds that Monsanto crippled, helping plants to do what they can't do for themselves. So that the people of Poseidon can eat. So they can breathe. The dandelion seed is one of three, sent from Earth. Scientific treasure. And then one day, seed meets girl - and everything changes forever. Dandelion Kisses is a short story. It's science fiction, and it's life, and it's what happens when a writer's little girl used to have a love affair with a certain yellow weed. :)

This incredible little story reminded me how precious are the tiny things of life -- dandelion seeds, small children, and the links from generation to generation. I won't spoil even one minute of this story bytelling you the plot. I'll just say that I love dandelions, and carefully imported three when I moved into my home and with great forethought blew them across my yard. I read the story with my family about me, my daughter and granddaughters bickering and bantering. And I cried at the ending, because it was so beautiful and so perfect and sad all at the same time. I loved every minute of this story.

For the most part I did enjoy this, I just had trouble with the political and underlying Monsanto comments... I have trouble with the lack of knowledge and education causing this rampant hate of a company, especially when it is based on fear and lack of understanding rather than truth. Leaving this attack of a company out would have made the story much more enjoyable for me because the Monsanto comments perpetuate some mistruths. I could write more but that takes me off topic of the actual story.

The Challenge By Jane Hoagland The challenge of reviewing an Audrey Faye book is simply knowing my words are not capable of fully reflecting the elegance, light, love, beauty, and depth of Audrey's gifted writing. Her writing lifts me and reminds me that no matter what difficulties life brings us, there is always joy. It is winter, my yard covered with the first snowfall of the season. But I don't weed (much) and come spring, as I look out my office window, my yard will have hundeds of dandelions.
