Isaiah already has enough problems in his life without adding a new one—his mate. The man Fate chose for Isaiah isn’t just any man, no. It’s the man who kidnapped Jamie for the Glass Research Company, the man Dominic kept locked up for a year. And now he’s out and living with the pride, eating with them and sleeping in the room next to Isaiah’s. John knows he’s lucky. Dominic could have killed him for what he did, but the lion shifter gives him a second chance instead, and John isn’t about to waste it. He’s not all that comfortable around shifters yet, but it’s not like he has to like them. Even if he finds out he’s a shifter’s mate. As if things weren’t already difficult enough, Isaiah has to go home and leave John behind. Will John come and help when Isaiah’s house is attacked? Will Isaiah finally realize he can’t live his life for his mother? And even if he does, will John take him back?

He's the guy that sits looking at computer monitors, is a loner, and takes care of all the security computer stuff. As he is so self contained, I couldn't place him from the other books. He's probably in the background, doing his job, and not making an impact.Isaiah is the son of an alpha and raised to take over his skulk. But due to Isaiah being gay, he was kicked out and resettled with Dominic's pride. The years have passed and now there are family issues and Isaiah is called back home. The other half of this story is a human, John. There is some back story on why he's been imprisoned for a year in a cabin on Whitedell Pride property. Not remembering much on him . . . He was hired to kidnap Jamie for the Glass Pharmaceutical company. I don't think he was experimented on and has no enhanced abilities. He never offers to help Isaiah with computer stuff so I assume he isn't tech savvy. He was asked to train with the enforcers but there is very little page space on that. The road to this relationship is problematic. Isaiah had to figure out his priorities and unfortunately he goes through a indecisive stage that was really off putting. I expected better from a shifter! John is the rock in this one even though he has to remodel his life and live with shifters. He knows he's at a disadvantage and isn't sure where he stands. There were spots of humor that lightened up the story. Keenan and Nysys are now best buds and their curiosity leads them into . . . new adventures. A few old faces pop up and some new ones are introduced. There is no conclusion on the Glass Company situation from the last book. The focus is on Isaiah and John and how another mating comes about. 4.5 stars simply because Isaiah's reasoning was beyond my tolerance. Especially if he was trained to be an alpha - You'd think he'd go thru decision making and problem solving! And there isn't a set HEA. *sigh* -- Dan's Wife

Book Review by Brandilyn By PrismBookAlliance 4 of 5 StarsFor original review, please visit the Prism Book Alliance® blog online. After reading 13 books in the Whitedell series and 5 in the Gillham series, my mind is a little foggy. I love these books. If you read my back reviews of this series, you will see that was not always the case. It took me about 7 or 8 books to fall completely for these characters. However, now I eagerly await each new installment. The latest installment in these two sagas is the story of Isaiah, the fox shifter computer expert. He holds a special place in my heart because of that latter descriptor (being a computer geek myself). I appreciate that the author gives him the profession without trying too hard to make us believe it by giving him impossible tasks. I appreciate that she sells us his geek side without the helping of eye rolling that I usually find accompanying my computer geek characters.John is a little bit of a wild card in this pairing. We really haven’t heard much from him in a while. He was instrumental in the early days, and then just kind of disappeared. However, Lievens is a master at pulling seemingly innocuous and forgotten characters and giving them new life in the form of their own story. John is one such character. His history with the pack is anything but roses. His introduction to the pack was as the kidnapper of one of the human mates in the pack, Jamie.I appreciate that Lievens allows us to be upset with John. She allows the pride to get out their frustrations. She also allows us to see how much John has grown and matured during his incarceration. She allows us to see the kind of man John could be.She also doesn’t shove the mating down our, or her characters’, throats. More than any other installment in these two series, there was doubt cast as to whether they would mate. There was doubt as the how they would end. Actually, I am not sure that Isaiah and John are done telling us their story, to be perfectly honest.Ms. Lievens, I am ready for Arlen’s story.
