First, the way it's written makes it feel rushed. That is, the pace feels fast and urgent, and there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. The second thing, which probably stems from the first, is that throughout the whole book there's this feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I kept waiting for something to be wrong with Alex, or for something to happen that split them up. Third, the flashbacks are a bit weird and so far, there hasn't been much of a point to them. And fourth, and this is probably a personal pet peeve, the author keeps using British words and vernacular even though the story is set in America. Lastly, these first two episodes don't deliver on the type of sex intimated by the title, so a little disappointed there. At the end of the book, the story was nice enough, although I'm not sure I would have picked up book two right away. Still, it was enjoyable and it kept me reading.

Disappointing, safe, tame, vanilla, and BORING By Tina Johnson There's no feeling whatsoever in this story, and it's all a long, drawn-out narrative, telling and explaining the relationship between Alexis and Kaylee, rather than showing it. The story starts off really slow, and just drags you through it. There's no hook in the storyline at all, and there's no tension--it just feels like one big, long, narrative cliche.I had a really hard time trying to connect with this story, because I couldn't see or feel the characters connecting. It made the relationship seem forced and fake for the sake of the story. It's very cliche: a rich, lonely lesbian who has it all falls for poor, single mom with self-esteem issues. It turns into a cliched, bad attempt at who is the dom and who is the submissive. There's no steam and heat here, like real, true erotica. The story also seems a bit dated, especially since it's placed in liberal Boston, and the idea of lesbian couples is over a decade old now, as gay marriage was first approved in the USA in Massachusetts in May, 2004. In Porter's only attempt at dramatic tension--and a very weak one at that--we discover that Kaylee's mom is a traditional, religious, sourpuss who is against gay relationships, but nothing ever becomes of it in the story. The result is overstated, fake dramatic tension. Alexis' parents are rich, liberal, progressive, and completely accepting of their daughter. Again, cliche. These are just really boring characters having boring sex, boring lives, and boring conversations. I like a realistic story, but this is just dull. It's very tame and lacks passion, sizzle and the true tension, stress and struggle of two people in relationship. This book is just two people having adventures together lalalalala, and isn't everything just so wonderful and pleasant when they are together. Basically all these characters do is go out to eat; go to a cardboard workplace together that acts as just window-dressing to try to set the story; get together and play with the Kaylee's son, Ryan; and have sex after he goes to bed. Rinse, repeat--and snore. There's not a lot of good back story about how these two became who they are, let alone making it plausible that they would ever become a couple. So this is basically a safe, boring story. There's no tension or fire in the relationship like there is in every relationship. This is all just lovey-dovey, nicey, perfect-world telling of what’s happening. There's no arguments, there's nothing that reflects what would actually take place in real life, and it really dulls the story. It's just two people having a routine (and boring) good time together, and you get to watch and be told about it rather than shown and felt it, and it's boring. Boring sex and a few sex toys later, and the story is still boring.I absolutely hate hurting any author's feelings with a bad review, because I know full well the blood, sweat and tears that go into a book. But there's really a problem here. Alex B. Porter can write, but she's not a good storyteller at all. That's what makes this book so frustrating. Porter would benefit from going back to the writing drawing board and learning the basics of her craft. I don't know who to blame more: the book was edited by Haley Torboli, meaning it may have been proofread by Torboli, but editing? I think not. There's no structure, no plot, just telling, telling, telling, and more telling in a long, boring narrative. So you have bad editing and bad writing combining to make an unexciting and uninteresting tale, which is sad, because Porter could do a lot better with the right editor, and a much better understanding of storytelling and erotica.

By Luis First off, i was having a great time to read as the author used such a easy to understand words, and a very well written plot and story. It was really so cute story indeed, sweet romance lesbian. I was actually pondering while reading that i have a couple of friends that might have the same life or story like this..I really like it so much as if i'm part of the story to be honest. Alex really have a great career and have a great parents whose very supportive;i'm trying to guess before i read the sequence that Alex's parents might not want kaylee and her son, but was so glad that they didn't. It is a highly recommended indeed! i really like it so much!
